Thank you for your participation over the last few months in the Command & Conquer closed alpha test. EA explains exactly this in the statement they released a little bit ago: The alpha/beta play hasn’t been going so well, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s because people wanted a single-player campaign, and NOT just a multiplayer game. Well, now it’s a moot point as EA has shut down the whole game. Fans were less than enthused, as FTP isn’t where they wanted to see this franchise go, and struggled to see how a story could be told in such a manner. Fans were excited and things looked great…then EA announced it was going to be a free-to-play title and dropped the Generals 2 in favor of straight-up Command & Conquer. Things were looking up when a division of Bioware was set-up to revitalize the franchise with C&C: Generals 2.
